Technical work done properly

Damian Szprycha

Security and low-voltage systems technician — CCTV, networks, building systems

These days I fit sprinkler pipework in the Netherlands. My core trade, though, is security and low-voltage systems: many CCTV, video-intercom and company-network installations — from design and equipment selection to configuration and handover — plus ten years running the technical side of a family business, 3rd line IT support in the NHS and a British degree in computer networks. I like work done properly: measured, documented and handed over running.

Experience

Sprinkler fitter

Netherlands

06.2026 — present

  • Installing sprinkler fire-suppression systems: pipework and mounting.
  • VCA Basic Safety certified (valid to 2036); I work in English.

AI-supported technical work

Own tools and daily practice

2024 — present

  • Built local AI/RAG test environments with Docker, databases, APIs and imported documents.
  • Use AI tools daily for code, debugging, documentation, source checks and Polish-English quality control.

CCTV and network installations

Companies and private clients | Poland

2015 — 2024

  • Delivered many CCTV and video-intercom installations — from system design through cable routes and mounting to configuration and handover to the client — for a car dealership (Opel, Torun), building-material yards and fish farms, among others.
  • Deployed perimeter protection built on video analytics: tripwire lines, intrusion zones and automatic alerts the moment the site boundary is breached.
  • Also configured company networks and remote access to cameras and recorders: managed switches, VLAN separation, PoE, access points and Wi-Fi that stays stable even on crowded bands.
  • Chose equipment for the site and its conditions, not from a catalogue — cameras and mounts for long distances, vapour over fish ponds and legacy cable runs.

Co-owner — technical operations and investments

Zaklad Miesny Kwatery | Torun

07.2014 — 09.2024

  • Responsible for all investments in the company — roughly PLN 2.5M (≈ €580,000) a year: planning, documentation and permits, contractor selection and settlement, acceptance checks — from a gas installation, sewer works and boiler room, through the design and permits for a new site entrance from the county road, to a 260 m² commercial building.
  • Smaller jobs we did in-house — with co-workers, often hands-on myself — when that was faster and cheaper: gas, water, sewer and electrical connections to existing and newly built buildings, heat-recovery ventilation, electric floor heating (heating mats), renovations and keeping the production machines running.
  • Put in a system that ties together multiple heating and power sources: TECH automation across four properties, an 80 kWp off-grid photovoltaic array with 65 kWh of battery storage and thermal-energy buffers, backed by a generator, plus temperature control and open-window detection while the heating runs. At the peak of the utility price surges — through the pandemic and the war in Ukraine — it cut heating costs enough for the company to get through that period safely. Production has never stopped for lack of power.
  • Put in a 32-camera Dahua CCTV system on an isolated VLAN with two managed switches, perimeter analytics, acoustic warnings and alarm-response-team callout — no unauthorized entry recorded since go-live.
  • Ran worker accommodation and contract administration for IDS Operations, a contractor serving the US Army (2018–2024) — cooperation confirmed in a reference letter, with quality audited regularly, including by their client KBR Inc.

3rd Line Support Engineer

Blackpool NHS Foundation Trust | United Kingdom

12.2012 — 07.2014

  • 3rd line support in a hospital environment where uptime and clear notes matter: Active Directory, Exchange, VMware vSphere, Commvault backups.
  • Handled incidents, changes and continuity tasks with direct user contact.

Key Account Manager / Sales Executive B2B

Samas Poland LTD / Martela Poland LTD | Warsaw

  • Led office fit-out projects for corporate clients — offers, negotiations, delivery and installation supervision — including the bid in the UniCredit / Bank Pekao rebranding tender, a project worth over PLN 7M (≈ €1.6M), with English RFQ documentation, and work for PKO.
  • Closed contracts for larger clients, including a 4,500 m² project awarded the company prize "Biggest Agreement 2007".

The road here

My path is not a straight line. I started in B2B sales in Warsaw, moved to the UK and rebuilt from zero — night shifts combined with daytime study, then a networking degree and NHS IT support. Back in Poland I spent ten years as co-owner keeping a production site running and building its infrastructure, often with my own hands. Now I am in the Netherlands, fitting sprinkler pipework and open to the next technical role where that mix is useful.
